The Academia Europaea is a Europe-wide academy of humanities, literature, law and natural sciences, founded in 1988 and encompassing all fields of scientific research. Its purpose is the worldwide promotion and dissemination of excellent science in various disciplines for the benefit of the general public and to further the education of the public of all ages in Europe.
Prof. Robert Schlögl, Director of the Department of Heterogeneous Reactions was accepted as a new member of the Academy in June 2021 and looks forward to exchanging ideas with colleagues at various events and hopes to make an important contribution to the advancement of science in Europe and worldwide.
The Academia Europaea is a European, non-governmental association that functions as an academy. Its more than 4,500 members are scientists and scholars who share the goal of promoting learning, education and research. Members currently include 72 Nobel Laureates, some of whom were elected to the Academia before they were awarded the prize.
The Academia Europaea is composed of individual members and admission is by invitation only and following a selection procedure.
