In 2016, the MPI CEC took part in the regional event "ScienceNight" (WissensNacht) Ruhr for the first time.
ScienceNight Ruhr is one of the youngest and largest science festivals in Germany. Every two years, the event turns the dynamic Ruhr Region into a swirling center for knowledge. More than 500 scientists from more than 50 institutions present a dialogue-oriented, interactive program.
The MPI CEC will also take part in the upcoming event in September 2020, and show children and other interested visitors, what a research institute actually does and how exciting chemistry can be.
In 2018, the MPI CEC again participated in the ScienceNight Ruhr. On the Mülheim campus of the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences, children could learn how to make solar cells from teebags, solve exciting puzzles together with our own detective "Sherlock Planck" and unravel many secrets of chemistry. In a 3D-cinema visitors could dive into the world of molecules.
