The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion is excited to share that Prof. Christophe Werlé has been appointed as Full Professor at the University of Lorraine, after seven successful years with us. In September 2024, he joined the Faculty of Science and Technology in Nancy at the Laboratoire Lorrain de Chimie Moléculaire (L2CM).
Prof. Werlé has made notable contributions to organometallic chemistry, particularly in the synthesis of innovative organometallic complexes and the exploration of reaction mechanisms to enhance the efficiency and selectivity of catalytic processes. A significant aspect of his work is the development of adaptive catalysts—catalysts that can adjust their behavior in response to different reaction conditions, thereby optimizing performance across various applications. His research has not only deepened the understanding of reaction mechanisms in homogeneous catalysis but has also paved the way for new applications in organic synthesis, energy, and sustainable development.
At the University of Lorraine, Prof. Werlé will continue his work in organometallic chemistry, developing new catalytic systems and molecular architectures with potential applications in energy storage, environmental solutions, and sustainable synthesis. He will also work to foster international collaborations and drive new research initiatives.
We congratulate Prof. Werlé on this new role and look forward to his continued contributions to the field. For more information about his work and achievements, you can view his full profile here.
