From November 20th -21st, 2017, the “1st Conference on Sustainable Chemical Conversion in Industry” took place in the frame of the Carbon2Chem® project.
The current results of the project, that has been running for one year, were presented to a professional audience and discussed with the participants.
CEC Director Robert Schlögl presented the use of fundamental research in the project. He described methanol synthesis as an example of energy storage and discussed, among other things, the progress in the detection of gas impurities that can damage the catalysts. In conclusion, Schlögl once again explained the carbon cycle and the particular challenges involved in optimizing the individual steps in the system network in order to save CO2 efficiently.
