Prof. Serena DeBeer appointed honorary professor at the University of Duisburg-Essen

The ceremonial handover took place at the kick-off event of the ACTIVE SITES research center 

Prof. Serena DeBeer (MPI CEC) received the certificate of honorary professorship from Prof. Torsten Schmidt (UDE)

Prof. Serena DeBeer, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, received the honorary professorship at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE). On the occasion of the kick-off event of the ACTIVE SITES research center, the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at the UDE, Prof. Dr. Torsten Schmidt, presented the certificate to Serena DeBeer. 

Serena DeBeer is one of the world's most respected scientists in the field of developing and applying X-ray spectroscopic methods to elucidate the electronic structure of biological and chemical catalysts.

With the honorary professorship, the collaboration between Serena DeBeer and the Faculty of Chemistry in the field of teaching and doctoral training will grow. There is already close collaboration between the two parties through the SFB/TRR, which will be further consolidated through ACTIVE SITES.
