PhD Student Wins Best Poster Prize at EuroBIC in Münster

Isis M. Wahl receives recognition for her research

Isis M. Wahl, PhD student with Prof. Serena DeBeer and Dr. Kushal Sengupta in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, has been awarded the Best Poster Prize at the highly prestigious EuroBIC conference held in Münster, Germany, on August 25th to 29th 2024. EuroBIC, an internationally renowned bioinorganic chemistry conference, attracts leading researchers from around the globe.

Isis M. Wahl presented her research on "Spectroscopic Studies on Vanadium Nitrogenase." Vanadium Nitrogenase, one of the three known nitrogenases, is a unique metalloenzyme that not only plays a crucial role in nitrogen fixation but also has the ability to reduce carbon monoxide to alkanes. Her research focuses on uncovering the reaction mechanisms of this enzyme, which has significant implications for both bioinorganic chemistry and sustainable energy solutions.
