Several scientists of the MPI CEC are involved in the newly approved Collaborative Research Centre SFB/TRR 247.

Prof. Serena DeBeer ('<link internal-link internal link in current>Inorganic Spectroscopy'), Prof. Robert Schlögl ('<link internal-link internal link in current>Heterogeneous Reactions') and Prof. Martin Muhler ('<link internal-link internal link in current>Heterogeneous Redox Catalysis') and their respective colleagues are involved in the cooperation project with the University of Duisburg-Essen, the Ruhr University Bochum, the MPI für Kohlenforschung and other research institutions.

The project entitled "Heterogene Oxidationskatalyse in der Flüssigphase – Materialien und Mechanismen in der thermischen, Elektro- und Photokatalyse" is a so-called transregional project (TRR), which has been proposed and carried out jointly by various universities and research institutes. Close cooperation between the partners not only enables the joint use of resources, but also offers the possibility of developing and achieving the joint research goal "complementary and synergistic" (<link http: www.dfg.de en research_funding programmes coordinated_programmes collaborative_research_centres index.html external-link-new-window internal link in current>DFG, Collaborative Research Centres).

The research within the project focuses on basic catalytic mechanisms that are investigated using modern experimental, theoretical and computer-assisted techniques.
