Jannis Hertel, former chemical laboratory assistant trainee at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion (MPI CEC) in Mülheim an der Ruhr, was recognized as the best chemical laboratory assistant in his 2023/2024 training year in North Rhine-Westphalia. On November 8, 2024, the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK NRW) honored the year's top graduates at a ceremony held at the Siegerlandhalle in Siegen. The two best graduates in their respective apprenticeships nationwide receive the award. A total of 185 state champions from 131 occupations were present.

In his speech, Walter Viegener, President of the Siegen Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that ambition, perseverance, a good training company and the interplay of talent and willingness to learn are among the most important points for successful training. Jannis Hertel impressively embodies these qualities: He began his training at the MPI CEC on September 1, 2021 and completed it six months earlier than the regular training period. Since July 2024, he has been employed as a full-time chemical laboratory technician at the MPI CEC.

We warmly congratulate Jannis on this achievement and are proud to have him as part of our team.
