Niklas Cibura, PhD student of our <link https: imprs.cec.mpg.de external-link-new-window internal link in current>International Max Planck Research School IMPRS-RECHARGE has managed to be published with his group under the direction of Prof. Jennifer Strunk in the <link https: onlinelibrary.wiley.com doi abs cctc.201800311 external-link-new-window internal link in current>11th volume of the Wiley magazine ChemCatChem and they also have designed the <link https: onlinelibrary.wiley.com toc external-link-new-window internal link in current>front page of the issue.
This work was carried out by the Max Planck Research Group leader <link https: www.catalysis.de mitarbeiter strunk-jennifer external-link-new-window internal link in current>Jennifer Strunk (currently at the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis at the University of Rostock) and Niklas Cibura in cooperation with researchers from the University of Essen-Duisburg, Lehigh University (USA) and <link internal-link internal link in current>Prof. Martin Muhler, Max Planck Fellow at the Ruhr University Bochum.
In this communication, the contributing researches showed that isolated, dehydrated vanadium oxide species on a silica support could perform selective oxidation of methanol to formaldehyde. This activation can be induced either thermally or by photons. This founding provides important implications for the design of actives site for photocatalysis.
