The EPR group at MPI CEC employs electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) techniques to monitor and characterize paramagnetic states relevant in energy conversion and storage processes. We develop and apply state-of the art EPR spectrometers ranging from GHz to THz frequencies. Our spectrometers are capable of a wide repertoire of CW/pulse multi-resonance and multi-frequency EPR methods for powder, crystal, solution and in-situ experiments.
The project aims at the characterization of function determining paramagnetic transition metal ions in homogenous and heterogeneous catalysts by advanced EPR methods. The tasks include development of dedicated EPR instrumentation, pulse/cw EPR measurements and data simulation as well as quantum chemical calculations to elucidate magneto-structural correlations.
We are looking for a highly motivated young scientist with the following skills:
- A PhD degree in physics or chemistry
- Profound experience in advanced multi-resonance and multi-frequency EPR methods
- Background in EPR instrumentation, quantum chemical calculations and inorganic chemistry
- Very good networking and communication skills
- Very good knowledge of the English language (spoken and written)
The position is available immediately for a duration of 24 months with an option of renewal. The salary is based on the Collective Agreement for the German Public Service (TVöD-Bund).
