Science for Kids

Since 2010 the MPI CEC has been joining the nation wide event Girls'Day.

This is a great opportunity for young girls to get an insight in the daily life of a scientist. So the girls have the chance to try out the so-called untypical jobs for women in the laboratories, the glassblowing, technical workshops and mechanical departments.

More information about the Girls'Day at the MPI CEC and some pictures of the last years can be found here.

Junior-Uni Ruhr

What is the Junior-Uni Ruhr?

The Junior-Uni Ruhr consists of a network of people from science, business and culture, from day-care centres, schools and museums, from church and social institutions - the largest educational network that has ever existed in Mülheim and the region.

The most important thing we can give children is knowledge - especially the ability to acquire knowledge independently and to share acquired knowledge with others. These are the basic ideas of the Junior-Uni Ruhr: to give children and young people space for their curiosity, joy of discovery and thirst for research until they enter professional life. Without grades or pressure to perform.

The Junior-Uni Ruhr is an extracurricular, privately financed and non-profit educational and research institution for children and young people.

Science at School

A couple of times per year, Bernd Mienert visits the elementary school GGS Heinrichstraße to do some easy chemical experiments toghether with the students.

For the school it is a great opportunity to spark interest in chemistry and to show its students fascinating experiments apart from the regular schedule.
